Nature's Reserve Alpacas is located in the beautiful Delaware River Valley of Callicoon, New York. Our farm is located right on the banks of the magnificent Delaware River where bald eagles soar. We are conveniently located only 2 hours from New York City making the Sullivan County Catskills a year-round playground for vacationers and second home owners. There are many activities to enjoy in all four seasons. We are only 20 minutes from the world class performing arts venue, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
In 2004, we made some life-changes. Joe retired from his fly fishing business of 21 years, and I left the surgical suite, as an operating room nurse, to be closer to my family. For many years we had owned horses, But were interested in raising a smaller animal. When we visited an alpaca farm near us, we fell in love and knew we'd found the right animal for us.
In 2006, Elodie was purchased from a nearby farm, and, soon after we travelled to Virginia to purchase several more females. The alpacas were boarded at the sellers's farms until we finished renovations on our barns and we had new fencing in place. When the weather was cool enough for transporting the alpacas, we got our new herd. Our first year, we were blessed with two male crias. The following Spring, those two males placed second and fourth in a class 4 show. We're very proud of our breeding program. And, strive to make annual improvements.
To learn more about our herd and these unique, gentle animals, call and come visit us. There are bed and breakfasts in the area. Should you want to see what farming is all about, join us for chores, or follow us for a day around the farm.
